Description:
Hydraulic tappets (also called hydraulic lifters) are typical wear parts in Porsche engines. Defective hydraulic tappets usually make themselves noticeable through clicking engine noises. If this clicking does not disappear after the engine has warmed up, it is a sign of insufficient oil in the hydraulic tappets.
Because the installation costs of the valve tappets exceed their material costs, it is always recommended to replace all hydraulic tappets.
Engines with engine codes M96.01 / M96.02 / M96.03 / M96.04 and M96.20 / M96.21 / M96.22 / M96.23 / M96.24 / M96.25 / M96.26 are fitted with 24 hydraulic tappets of this type.
Engines with engine codes M97.01 / M97.20 / M97.21 / M97.22 are fitted with only 12 hydraulic tappets of this type for the intake valves.
Porsche Cayenne engines with engine codes M48.00 / M48.50 are fitted with 32 hydraulic tappets of this type.
