Piston rings are mounted on the piston in the corresponding grooves, sealing the combustion chamber and allowing heat to be transferred from the piston to the cylinder wall. The oil scraper ring also ensures the necessary and even lubrication. Damaged piston rings are noticeable through reduced compression and the associated loss of power.
