Oil lines are inconspicuous components, but a defect can cause significant damage. For years, they connect the engine, oil cooler, or timing chain tensioner without being noticeable. If a line cracks or breaks, large quantities of oil (possibly the entire contents of the oil tank) leak out, and the component is no longer reliably supplied with engine oil.
