This thermostat insert regulates the engine oil cooling circuit in air-cooled Porsche engines, ensuring optimal oil temperature during both warm-up and full-load operation. A stuck or defective thermostat will restrict oil flow to only one circuit, resulting in poor temperature control and potential engine damage.
